Universal Destinations & Experiences unveiled a first look at their fourth Orlando theme park, Epic Universe. The park is currently under construction but is expected to open in 2025. Epic Universe is said to feature 50 attractions, dining, and shopping experiences spread across five lands.
These new details mark the first official word on the park since Epic Universe was announced back in 2019. Since then, construction has been underway on the immersive new park.
Epic Universe’s Celestial Park
After entering through the main entrance portal, guests will encounter Celestial Park. This first land makes up the heart of the park and features lush gardens. It’s here that guests will be able to ride a dual-track racing rollercoaster or hop on the Constellation Carousel. There will even be a restaurant set inside a Victorian aquarium.
Harry Potter’s Wizarding World Expands With Epic Universe
The Harry Potter franchise has been a tremendous success for Universal theme parks, with lands in both of the Orlando parks in addition to Wizarding Worlds at the Universal parks in Hollywood, Japan, and Beijing. That trend continues with Epic Universe. The new land has been dubbed “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic” and will transport guests to the streets of 1920s Paris. Guests will also embark on a new experience set in the British Ministry of Magic.
Super Nintendo World In Orlando
The iconic green pipe will serve as the entrance to Super Nintendo World at Epic Universe. In this land, guests will be able to step into the world of Mario. The land’s inclusion makes sense following the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Footage shown on Tuesday proves this new land will be similar to the Super Nintendo Worlds already in Universal Japan and Universal Hollywood. Universal also officially revealed Epic Universe’s Super Nintendo World will feature experiences tied to Donkey Kong.
Welcome to How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk
The third land will bring the How to Train Your Dragon franchise to life and allow guests to roam the Isle of Berk. In this land, guests will be able to soar with dragons and adventure with Vikings. It seems fans of the franchise are in for a treat because Epic Universe and the How to Train Your Dragon live-action remake are both slated for 2025.
Universal’s Dark Universe Joins Epic Universe
The last land in the new park will take guests to a shadowy landscape where monsters roam. Dubbed “Dark Universe,” this section of the park will feature Dr. Victoria Frankenstein and a cast of classic movie monsters.
If the land’s name sounds familiar that is because “Dark Universe” is also what Universal Pictures called their plan for a shared monster movie universe. The only film in this shared universe is The Mummy starring Tom Cruise (not the one with Brendan Fraser).
The Future of Epic Universe and Universal
Universal Destinations & Experiences promises to reveal more details in the months leading up to Epic Universe’s grand opening, plus the company announced they broke ground on two new parks across the country. Texas is getting a Universal Kids Resort designed specifically for families and young children, and Las Vegas will have a year-round horror experience called Universal Horror Unleashed.
