‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ Star Brendan Wayne Is Writing a Star Wars Script for Mando [Exclusive]

After three seasons of The Mandalorian on Disney+ and Din Djarin’s first feature film, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, the character’s future is now up in the air. However, the man inside the helmet has some ideas. It takes Pedro Pascal‘s voice and Lateef Crowder‘s fighting skills to help bring the character to life, but the person inside the suit for the vast majority of the time on screen is Brendan Wayne, the grandson of legendary Western actor John Wayne.

Wayne revealed to Agents of Fandom at the Edmonton Expo that he not only has hopes for the character’s future, but he’s also writing his own Star Wars script that includes Mando, but Grogu as well.

Brendan Wayne Has More Plans for ‘The Mandalorian’

“I’m writing a Star Wars script, that I will submit to them (LucasFilm), it doesn’t mean anything guys…but I do have an idea that I think Mando should be a part of, and you know the kid, obviously.”

Wayne was sure to emphasize that his Star Wars script isn’t currently being developed by the studio, but is indeed something he will pitch when he’s finished. With the future of the character and Star Wars television in general uncertain, perhaps it’s Brendan Wayne who will bring new life to Din Djarin and Grogu’s story beyond just his acting.

Will ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 4 Ever Happen?

After the modest performance of The Mandalorian and Grogu at the box office and no live-action Star Wars shows announced after Ahsoka Season 2, fans of The Mandalorian are anxiously awaiting any official word on the series’ future. Will there be another movie? Will the team come back for Season 4? Very few outside of Dave Filoni and potentially Jon Favreau know the answer, but the future of big-budget television on Disney+ currently looks bleak.

While not Star Wars projects, Wonder Man was cancelled and Daredevil: Born Again was announced to end after a third season, leaving very few genre series under the Disney umbrella on the docket for the future. Hopefully, we haven’t seen the last of Mando and Grogu, and the series can return to the same level of quality and fan engagement from the first two seasons.
