Despite airing its final season in 2020, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has one of the most passionate and dedicated fan bases in the Marvel Universe. Marvel Studios has yet to acknowledge the series’ existence in the main MCU timeline or confirm or deny whether it is canon. The series ended with Deke Shaw (Jeff Ward) taking over as head of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Agents of Fandom recently caught up with Ward where he shared what it would take for him to reprise his role.
Jeff Ward Is Open to Reprising His Role As Deke Shaw
When speaking with Aisha Shabeese of Agents of Fandom at Toronto Comicon, Jeff Ward commented on whether he would reprise his role as Deke Shaw in an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. revival:
“Yeah, but only if he was in charge of S.H.I.E.L.D., because that’s where we last left him, so he’d have to be in charge. But, I would love to of course, I love S.H.I.E.L.D., it’s great.”

The MCU Isn’t Afraid To Reboot Past Properties
While currently reviving Netflix’s Daredevil in the MCU under the banner Daredevil: Born Again, it’s impossible to rule out an MCU debut for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the future. Most Marvel fans are familiar with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) as the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D., but Jeff Ward’s Deke Shaw deserves a moment in the spotlight. With the news of so many older series and characters being revived, there is hope that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans will see their favorite characters again.
