From one of the most iconic directors of all time, Steven Spielberg, comes his most unique premise and a well-executed story. Ready Player One boasts a star-studded cast of Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Simon Pegg, and Kit Connor, and received a nomination for Best Visual Effects at the 2019 Academy Awards. Set in a barely habitable world, people spend their lives in a virtual reality simulation known as the OASIS. This is arguably the most anticipated live-action adaptation of the 21st century, behind only (maybe) Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Based on the animated series from Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, Avatar: The Last Airbender follows Aang (Gordon Cormier), a young boy who wakes up after 100 years in an iceberg and soon discovers it is his responsibility to end a century-long war. The animated series is widely beloved, and after a poor attempt at an adaptation in 2010 from M. Night Shyamalan, the fan base is due for a win.

For those that have Netflix and haven’t seen Everything Everywhere All at Once, you’re in for a treat on February 23. Directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, who are also involved with the upcoming Star Wars project The Acolyte, this intense sci-fi epic won seven Academy Awards at the 2023 Oscars. Evelyn Wang’s (Michelle Yeoh) life changes forever when she’s swept up into a multiversal adventure that introduces her to many different wacky realities. This A24 masterpiece is one of the most brilliant films ever, and will likely climb to the top of the Netflix Top 10 shortly after it arrives on the platform.
