Announced during the Warner Bros. Max event, the show will be directed by Takashi Sano. Sano is known for his work on the anime Tower of God and Fire Emblem: Three Houses, as well as directing some Rick and Morty anime shorts.

The new style of animation for the show brings lots of intrigue to this spinoff. New places, new creatures, new adventures, but hopefully the same old charm.

Nothing else has been revealed about the show to this point, however based off the Rotten Tomatoes score of the main show’s six seasons, this is exciting news.

Rick and Morty: The Anime marks the first time we will see these characters since Justin Roiland’s removal from the show due to domestic violence charges that have since been dropped. Rick and Morty: The Anime is set to release later this year on Adult Swim and Max.
