Warning: Spoilers ahead for Cobra Kai Season 6, Episode 8 “Snakes on a Plane.”
After an action-filled entry, Cobra Kai Season 6, Episode 8 shows what the Sekai Taikai participants do in their free time. Miyagi-Do just narrowly escaped elimination, but there isn’t time to celebrate. The previous episode saw Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridueña) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) heading home after hearing Carmen Diaz (Vanessa Rubio) was rushed to a hospital. With a sensei and fighter down, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) is left to find a solution.
Although this episode takes a break from the Sekai Taikai challenges, it gives the audience a breather to check in on these beloved characters. This halfway point for Cobra Kai Season 6, Part 2 not only develops the characters further but also includes a shocking revelation for the rest of the competition. Follow along with our Cobra Kai Season 6, Episode 8 “Snakes on a Plane” recap below for all the details.
Kreese and Kim Da-Eun Don’t See Eye to Eye in “Snakes on a Plane”
The episode begins with Johnny calling Amanda LaRusso (Courtney Henggeler) for an update on Carmen as he and Miguel board a plane to California. He tells Amanda to get Kenny Payne (Dallas Dupree Young) to Barcelona to replace Miguel’s spot in the Sekai Taikai. While trying to get to his seat, a rude first-class passenger (Josh Banks) gives Johnny and the flight attendant (Sharayu Mahale) a hard time.
Back at the hotel in Barcelona, Daniel worries about how Johnny is doing, but Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) reminds Daniel they also have problems with John Kreese (Martin Kove) hiring someone to kidnap him. Daniel believes that Kim Da-Eun (Alicia Hannah-Kim) told Kreese that he was looking for answers about Mr. Miyagi’s (Pat Morita) past, and they planned this trap. Chozen apologizes for being too drunk to help before but promises to be supportive. Chozen tells Daniel he’ll make sure the students don’t get into trouble for the night. But he doesn’t tell Daniel that he already let them go out to take their mind off things.
Meanwhile, Kreese tells Kwon Jae-Sung (Brandon H. Lee) to dial up the pressure and get under Miyagi-Do’s skin now that Daniel is all shaken up. Kim Da-Eun doesn’t approve of this method because she thinks the students will get disqualified from the Sekai Taikai. But Kreese notes that her grandfather, Master Kim Sun-Yung (C.S. Lee), was the one who said not all battles take place on the battlefield.
The Kids Aren’t Alright in ‘Cobra Kai’ Season 6, Episode 8
At a bar, Eli “Hawk” Moskowitz (Jacob Bertrand) tells Demetri Alexopoulos (Gianni Decenzo) and Devon Lee (Oona O’Brien) that Kenny might be flying in to replace Miguel. This worries Devon since she gave him laxatives so she could get a spot on the Sekai Taikai team. Sad that they’re not with their partners, Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan) tells Sam LaRusso (Mary Mouser) that he wants to start drinking alcohol since Tory Nichols (Peyton List) doesn’t seem to be affected by their break.
Just then, Kwon, Tory, and Yoon Do-Jin (Daniel Kim) walk in. Noticing how much Robby is staring at Tory, Kwon puts his arm around her to make him jealous. Tory shrugs Kwon off, but Robby doesn’t notice as he orders alcohol. After seeing Tory get recognized at the bar for her fighting, Zara Malik (Rayna Vallandingham) buys her a drink. But Zara gives a back-handed compliment by saying Tory should take photos to remember the moment since it’s the only time she’ll get to be this famous. Tory retorts by saying she’ll take a picture of Zara flat on the mat when she knocks all her teeth out.
Meanwhile, a girl notices Hawk and Demetri watching her dance and asks if either of them wants to join. Hawk declines, saying he has a girlfriend, but Demetri says yes without mentioning his girlfriend. When Hawk video-calls Moon (Hannah Kepple) to show off the bar they’re at, he accidentally shows Demetri dancing with a girl. Yasmine (Annalisa Cochrane) is with her and she angrily calls Demetri to break things off.
Sam Befriends Axel in ‘Cobra Kai’ Season 6, Episode 8
Sam leaves the bar after Tory shows up with Cobra Kai and makes her way to the beach. She sees Axel Kovacevic (Patrick Luwis) training shirtless and asks about his technique. When Axel tries to leave, Sam questions the bruises on his back. Axel explains it’s from the bo staff competition, but she notes that no one landed a hit on him. She then remembers how tough Sensei Wolf (Lewis Tan) was on him in training, but Axel says Wolf only wants the best for him.
As they walk back to the hotel together and have a friendly conversation, Yoon, Kwon, and another drunk Cobra Kai member surround them and try to start a fight. Seeing Axel clench his fist, Yoon kicks him but before it escalates even further, they all run away after hearing police sirens. When Axel and Sam run back to the beach, Axel tries to kiss Sam, but she stops him and apologizes for the misunderstanding. Embarrassed by the situation, Axel runs back to the hotel.
Back at the bar, Tory decides to leave since she keeps seeing Robby sad and drinking alone. Kwon takes the chance to go up to Robby and implies that he’ll be sleeping with Tory that night. Robby tries to start a fight but backs down because he’s too upset. Seeing how vulnerable he is and noticing his connection to Tory, Zara goes up to him. They end up sleeping together and as he leaves her hotel room, Tory is shocked by what she’s seeing. Zara notices Tory watching and she blows her a kiss as retaliation for her comment earlier.
Kenny Gets Recruited for the Sekai Taikai
Amanda shows up at Kenny’s house to tell him he can go to the Sekai Taikai, but Kenny says he wants nothing to do with Miyagi-Do since he thinks Anthony LaRusso (Griffin Santopietro) embarrassed him by giving him laxatives. When Amanda watches the viral videos of the incident, she forces Anthony to apologize to Kenny even if he didn’t cause it.
Anthony gives a condescending apology to Kenny, causing Kenny to punch him and start a fight. Amanda breaks it up and reminds them that Kenny is supposed to go to the Sekai Taikai because Miguel’s mom might be dying. Kenny says it’s hard for him to move past the bullying, but Amanda assures him that when they win the Sekai Taikai, they’ll only see him as a karate champion.
Even though Anthony admits he had nothing to do with the laxative incident, he offers to take some himself as a peace offering. Just then, Kenny gets a call from Devon confessing she was the one responsible for ruining Kenny’s chances. After seeing that Demetri didn’t take accountability for dancing with a girl behind Yasmine’s back, Devon’s guilt was eating her up. Kenny says they’ll clear the air when he gets to Barcelona. Anthony ends up taking the laxatives before Kenny can explain what happened, but he respects Anthony’s commitment and forgives him.
Johnny and Miguel Have a Heart-to-Heart Talk in “Snakes on a Plane”
Back on the plane, Johnny tries to cheer Miguel up by saying everything will be fine with Carmen. But Miguel doesn’t accept that and is upset that Johnny has been ignoring his victories at the Sekai Taikai. Miguel thinks Johnny will be drinking in the parking lot when Carmen gives birth to their daughter, just like he did when Robby was born. The flight stewardess sees them arguing and offers Miguel a free seat in first class to avoid Johnny. When Johnny tries talking to Miguel, the drunk and rude first-class passenger from before waves his privilege and tries to kick Johnny out.
Moments later, Miguel is willing to hear Johnny out. Johnny apologizes for not being supportive and explains that he didn’t think Miguel needed it. While Miguel has a future ahead of him with college, Robby only has the Sekai Taikai. Johnny calls Miguel his son as well and admits that he’s trying to look at the bright side with Carmen because he doesn’t want to imagine the worst-case scenario. Just then, the rude passenger has had enough of Johnny and tries to pick a fight with him. Miguel is tired of this guy and knocks him out as everyone on the plane applauds them.
When Johnny and Miguel make it to Carmen’s hospital room, they see an empty bed with bloody sheets and assume the worst. But she gets wheelchaired in by a nurse who says the procedure went well. While she’s happy to see Johnny and Miguel again, she tells them to go back to Barcelona and win the Sekai Taikai. Karate is what brought their family together, and she wants them to see it through to the end.
Chozen and Kim Da-Eun Make a Connection in ‘Cobra Kai’ Season 6, Episode 8
Meanwhile, Chozen has been going around different bars all night to find the Miyagi-Do students while Daniel sleeps in. Kim Da-Eun is doing the same because she doesn’t want Cobra Kai to start a fight. They both end up interrogating a pair of drunk teens to get some answers, but when they show up at the bar, their students are already gone.
Chozen compliments the moves Kim Da-Eun used on the drunk teens when she interrogated them, but Kim Da-Eun keeps taunting Chozen for how drunk and love-hurt he was. They end up fighting, but as they get closer to one another, they end up sharing a passionate kiss. They have coffee the next morning after a fun night together on the beach, but they say it can’t happen again.
Just then, Chozen sees the long-haired man who held Daniel captive and asks if Kim Da-Eun knows him. She doesn’t recognize him, but considering his Cobra Kai tattoo, they believe Kreese worked behind her back. They end up following the guy to get some answers.
A Major Villain Returns in “Snakes on a Plane”
Chozen and Kim Da-Eun end up calling Daniel and Kreese to meet them where the long-haired man is as they’re all confused about who he is. They see Iron Dragons’ Sensei Wolf talking to the guy and ask what his involvement is. The final moment of the episode reveals The Karate Kid Part III villain Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) sitting in a hot tub, smoking a cigar, asking Daniel “What would life be without a few surprises?”
Kreese, Kim Da-Eun, Chozen, and Daniel are as shocked as the audience to see Silver return after he got arrested in Cobra Kai Season 5. Just when viewers thought Miyagi-Do only had to worry about the Sekai Taikai, Silver being the puppeteer is a great twist for this final season. Although it can seem repetitive to bring him back, his influence and fighting skills make him a formidable opponent. While most of Cobra Kai Season 6, Episode 8 is a good breather between the action, the ending will have fans’ jaws dropped.
