Goku Jets Off to the Demon Realm in ‘Dragon Ball Daima’ Episode 3
Dragon Ball Daima Episode 3 begins with Goku, Supreme Kai, and Glorio heading to a Warp (Kenichi Ogata), a goldfish-shaped transit point between the Demon Realm and the outside world. He asks to see their ears, confirming that Supreme Kai is originally from the Demon Realm. Supreme Kai uses his magic to make Goku’s ears pointy so Warp can let them through. Although he’s able to telepathically tell Kibito where Warp is located, he’s too late to transmit what PIN they should say to enter the Demon Realm.
Now in the transit point, Glorio tells them the Demon Realm is split into three worlds, one of which can only be accessed by palace members. Glorio is only able to access the Third Demon World hatch despite Gomah being in the First Demon World. They see a Demon Realm Tunnel that used to connect all three worlds, but a protective light was placed over it to prevent travel.
Glorio notes that beings from the First Demon World and select members of the Second Demon World are only able to access Warp. Supreme Kai continues to be suspicious of Glorio considering he’s from the Third Demon World, but still able to use Warp. Glorio says he works in the First Demon World but isn’t specific about his job when Supreme Kai asks.
Goku Is Much Weaker in the Demon Realm
Amazed by how similar Earth and the Demon Realm are, Goku asks to breathe some of the outside air and walk around. After landing, Goku notices that the air makes it difficult to move. Glorio says the gas makes everything heavy. While Goku roams around, Glorio warns him not to fall into the Sea of Darkness as he’ll instantly die. In the distance, orc-like creatures attack Goku with spears and arrows. While everything else is slow, Glorio moves swiftly and fires back at the bandits with his laser gun.
They get back into the ship and fly past floating volcanoes that emit the heavy gas. Glorio says they can’t fly too close to them or fly fast in general because it’ll destroy the ship. As it’s getting late, Glorio takes Goku and Supreme Kai to a hotel in a nearby town, reminiscent of Mos Eisley in Star Wars: A New Hope. Before heading to sleep, Goku mentions he’s still hungry so they go to a bar across the hotel.
‘Dragon Ball Daima’ Episode 3 Ends a Bittersweet Note
Goku’s round-shaped ears draw the attention of the locals and they start a fight with him and Glorio. Adjusting to the heavy air, Goku defeats all the creatures while enjoying his Demon Realm burgers. After a restful sleep, Glorio, Goku, and Supreme Kai get ready to fly off to meet King Kadan, the one who sent Glorio to get Goku. But the episode ends as the creatures from last night have taken Glorio’s ship, leaving them stranded.
Three episodes in and Dragon Ball Daima is continuing to expand on the lore of Toriyama’s world in engaging ways. The series seems to be pulling at threads introduced during the Majin Buu arc in Dragon Ball Z. Although it feels reductive to keep depowering Goku, it’s fun to see him adapt to a new fighting style and come out victorious. The mystery surrounding Glorio and his true intentions continues to be an interesting plot point to follow so far.
Dragon Ball Daima is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Netflix with Japanese audio and subtitles in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. New episodes are released weekly on Fridays.
