The third theatrical DC film of the year is on the horizon, but is it one that matters for the DCU’s future? The financial and critical success of their latest films play a part in whether we see these cast members reprise these roles. Could a Blue Beetle post credit scene hint towards a brighter future for DC?
Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash bombed at the box office this year, making $133.8 million and $268 million worldwide respectively, as well as receiving unsatisfactory reviews. This is likely due to a multitude of factors, including, but not limited to, these characters not being confirmed to return in the new DCU lineup from James Gunn and Peter Safran, the controversies regarding Zachary Levi and Ezra Miller, and just general fatigue from DC’s consistent output of poor films.
Thankfully, Gunn revealed on Threads that Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña) and “a handful of other characters will continue on in the DCU.” But with Blue Beetle currently tracking to earn $30 million during its opening weekend, will word of mouth be enough to warrant a follow-up?
Does Blue Beetle have a post credit scene?
Journalist Luke Bugg from The Geek of Steel acknowledged that there are two post credit scenes. A fan, Josh Herrera, attended the premiere party in Austin, Texas and affirmed that there are two post credit scenes, adding “there’s more story to tell!”
Blue Beetle post credit scene explained

The mid-credit scene takes place in Ted Kord’s hideout, previously used in the film. A garbled message reveals that Ted Kord is alive, and whoever is listening needs to inform his daughter, Jenny Kord (Bruna Marquezine). The face shown on the video is pixelated enough to not reveal who the actor is.
The post credit scene is a comedic moment tying back to a gag used earlier in the film by Jaime’s uncle Rudy (George Lopez).
What to come from the Blue Beetle post credit scenes
In the film, Ted Kord is the person who donned the Blue Beetle identity before Jaime Reyes. With this tease at the end, it sets up the future for more Blue Beetle stories.
