Warning: Spoilers ahead for Agatha All Along Episode 6 “Familiar by Thy Side.”

After the last episode dropped a major reveal Marvel fans had been waiting for, Agatha All Along is back with a new installment as the latest MCU Disney+ series moves deeper into the second half of the season. The sixth episode in Agatha All Along pulls back the curtain and dives into Billy’s past, showing exactly how he got to where he is and the trauma he endured that forged him into Billy Maximoff (Joe Locke).

Marvel is no stranger to flashback episodes, and the format has delivered some of the best in the franchise to date with Moon Knight, WandaVision, and more. While the questions about Billy’s past have mostly been answered, there are still plenty of directions for the series to go, so make sure you’re all caught up with our Agatha All Along Episode 6, “Familiar by Thy Side,” recap.

The episode opens at Billy’s bar mitzvah, and he shares a quick embrace with his parents, Jeff (Paul Adelstein) and Rebecca (Maria Dizzia) before returning to the dance floor. He then visits Lilia Calderu (Patti LuPone) the fortune-teller, and it’s revealed that she’s the one who puts the sigil on him after learning his lifeline was split in two. Jeff then interrupts the party and tells everyone to go home due to the Westview anomaly, and Billy hears WandaVision playing on the radio during the car ride.

Their car crashes on the way home and Billy suffers a severe injury that causes his heart to stop. He then suddenly wakes up and calls for his brother Tommy, and Alice (Ali Ahn) shows up as a police officer to offer help. Billy’s parents come and visit him in the hospital, and he can hear their thoughts, but they tell him he’s going to be discharged tomorrow, and he can finally go home. Once he’s back home, Billy struggles to remember who he is as he continues hearing his parent’s thoughts about him.

Billy then goes up to his room and tries to convince himself he’s William Kaplan, but it doesn’t work. We then flash forward three years with Billy in the car with his boyfriend, Eddie (Miles Gutierrez-Riley). Billy hears him say “I love you” before he says it, and tells him he’s different before the two share a kiss before going back to Billy’s house. Up in his room, Billy tells Eddie he’s found someone who knows about the hex, and he’s going to meet him.

Agatha All Along Episode 6 reintroduces Ralph Bohner (Evan Peters) as Billy’s mystery meet-up, who reveals his real name is Randall. He explains what it was like to be in the hex and then reveals all the awful things that Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) did to him. He tells him about Agatha, Billy, and Tommy, and it’s here that Billy realizes who he truly is. Back at home, Billy’s parents ask if he wants to hang out, but he goes upstairs and listens to the ballad from Lorna Wu.

He then researches the Salem Witch Trials and learns more about Agatha Harkness. Billy then breaks into Agatha’s house in Westview, but she catches him. She then interrogates him until he finally says his name is Billy Maximoff. Back on the Witches’ Road, Agatha climbs out of the gunk and Billy crushes the sigil. The two argue in the woods, and Agatha says he’s just like his mother, but Billy tells her power doesn’t interest him.

Agatha tells him not to feel guilty about his talent, and he tries to use his powers on her, but they won’t work. Agatha then asks what he wants at the end of the Road, and he doesn’t answer, but she quickly figures out it’s his brother, Tommy. He tells her he doesn’t trust her, and she urges them onto the next trial.

Kathryn Hahn Takes a Backseat but Still Shines in ‘Agatha All Along’ Episode 6

Joe Locke experiences some young actor hiccups in Agatha All Along Episode 6, as he doesn’t quite have the same prowess to carry an episode on his own like Kathryn Hahn, who shines in a smaller role. “Familiar by Thy Side” does effectively provide more context to Billy’s backstory, but lacks a sense of dynamism the other episodes contain.

Agatha All Along has only three episodes remaining, with the final two releasing on October 30, meaning that the series will officially conclude in two weeks. It’s been a wild ride thus far with Teen’s identity finally revealed, but there are still more questions about Agatha’s history with the Green Witch (Aubrey Plaza). With roughly two hours of witchy adventures left, Marvel doesn’t have long to tie a bow on one of its strongest Disney+ series to date.

The first six episodes of Agatha All Along are now streaming on Disney+. Follow the Agents of Fandom socials for all the latest entertainment news and reviews.
