Kylie Cantrall has risen to stardom over the past few years, voicing Savannah in the animated film Ron’s Gone Wrong and playing the role of Dani in Disney’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Now, she is set to take her career to new heights, starring as the titular character, Red, in Descendants: The Rise of Red. She plays the daughter of Rita Ora’s Queen of Hearts, journeying alongside Chloe (Malia Baker), the daughter of Cinderella.
Descendants: The Rise of Red will premiere on Disney+ on July 12, further catapulting Cantrall to even larger levels of popularity. Kylie Cantrall is joined by Agents of Fandom to discuss her favorite Disney princesses, how she relates to her character, as well as her dream to one day be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
‘Descendants: The Rise of Red’ Star Hopes Her Training Will Help Land a Role With Marvel
Although she has always been a fan of the franchise, Cantrall hopes the skills she has picked up filming Descendants: The Rise of Red will help her be cast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In particular, she believes her parkour skills could translate well to a Marvel Studios action sequence.
“That’s my dream, to star in a Marvel film. I mean, the Red training will come in handy, if they need be to do a little parkour, I got that on lock. Hey Disney, call me up, you got my number!”

Between High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and Descendants: The Rise of Red, Cantrall is certainly on Disney’s radar. Although Marvel Studios is a somewhat separate entity run by Kevin Feige, Cantrall’s foot is already in the door. She is proving early on that she is leading lady material, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe could be the next step.
Who Could Kylie Cantrall Play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
While the MCU isn’t pumping out content quite as aggressively as in the past, plenty of potential projects involving young stars could add Kylie Cantrall to the roster. Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) and Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye (Hailee Steinfeld) have already teased the Young Avengers at the conclusion of The Marvels, and other teams like the Champions, present in Marvel Comics, could also be adapted.
Although most characters within the Young Avengers are already present in the MCU, the Champions still have a few roster spots open. In particular, Viv Vision, the daughter of Vision, could potentially have her time to shine if Vision Quest ever sees the light of day. Alternatively, Marvel Studios has yet to (fully) dive into the X-Men, and there are a wide range of mutants to choose from that will need to be cast.
‘Descendants: The Rise of Red’ Premieres on Disney+ on July 12, 2024
It remains to be seen whether or not Kylie Cantrall will star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe one day, but she is certainly a force to be reckoned with in Descendants: The Rise of Red. Her charisma is evident on and off-screen, and she certainly has the star power to be successful in Hollywood.
