RUMOR: ’World War Hulk’ Movie Eyeing Liv Tyler Return

After an almost fifteen-year absence from Marvel, it appears Liv Tyler may be in line to reprise her role as Betty Ross. An unconfirmed rumor from a post on r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers on Reddit claims that sources are hearing she’s in talks to return to the MCU for the rumored World War Hulk film.

World War Hulk In The MCU When?

Despite the lack of any formal announcement, it’s likely you’ve already heard about Marvel Studios’ World War Hulk movie. This has been a rumor for some time, but the fact that Universal Studios still holds the rights to any Hulk-starring solo movie prevents Marvel from ‘officially’ moving forward with it. However it’s likely that they’re already laying the foundations for this project, and within days of the film rights reverting to Marvel, the news will break officially.

MyTimeToShineHello, who is a notorious scooper for Marvel and other fandom projects, confirmed on November 26th that Marvel will be getting the film distribution rights back within the next two years. We haven’t seen any solo Hulk content in the MCU in almost 15 years due to the ongoing feud between the two studios. Hulk is one of Marvel’s most popular characters, so it stands to reason as soon as they get the rights back, they’ll jump right into producing Hulk-centered content.

Old Faces Return

It’s not inconceivable the Liv Tyler could return as Betty Ross. At D23 in 2022, Marvel officially announced the return of Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader in Captain America: New World Order. Fans went absolutely berserk over this news, and on top of Nelson’s confirmed return, we also learned that Harrison Ford will be a part of the cast. He will be taking over the role of General Thunderbolt Ross from the late William Hurt.

She-Hulk brought us the return of Tim Roth’s Emil Blonsky, AKA Abomination. Despite mixed opinions on The Incredible Hulk movie, fans are elated to see members of the cast returning in different capacities. Short of seeing the return of Edward Norton’s Bruce Banner, if Liv Tyler does decide to rejoin the fold, we’d have most of the original Hulk cast back on board.

World War Hulk Is A Win For The MCU

Liv Tyler is a superb talent, so to have her back in the MCU in any capacity would be a huge win. Fans already have a lot to be excited about with the return of Tim Blake Nelson and Tim Roth, but the return of Liv Tyler would be the icing on the cake. There’s a lot of Betty Ross’s story left to tell, and a Hulk-centered project would be the perfect place for her to make a reappearance.
