Following up on an installment that sets up a lot of tension, The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 7 is another series highlight. As Belly (Lola Tung) gears up to celebrate her bachelorette party, her feelings for Conrad (Christopher Briney) become too strong to be ignored.
Jenny Han delivers the best episode of the season so far, as it features comedy, chaos, and some of the most emotional moments yet. Let’s discuss the aptly titled “Last Hurrah” and dive into what makes this one so special in our The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 7 recap below.
Belly’s Bachelorette Weekend Has Finally Arrived!

With three days to go until the big day, the entire gang is headed to Cousins for one last party in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 7. The drinks are flowing, the grill is running, and spirits seem high. That is, until Belly’s friend Anika (Sofia Bryant) admits her crush on Conrad, which starts making Belly jealous. Anika says she’d pursue him if he weren’t Belly’s ex. Belly suggests that she should totally go for him, with the camera cutting to Taylor (Rain Spencer) mouthing “don’t do it” to Anika.
With Steven (Sean Kaufman) bringing Denise (Isabella Briggs) to the wedding as his plus-one, it’s time for the highly anticipated meeting between Taylor and Denise. Their meeting is super awkward and ends with Taylor agreeing to be Steven’s wingwoman, even though that’s the last thing she wants to be. Once again, Taylor is putting her own feelings aside to make the one she loves happy.
That evening, Belly and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) share a deeply uncomfortable moment in Jeremiah’s room, which includes Jere kissing Belly’s neck as she holds a stoic expression on her face. That boy makes her feel nothing. A bit later, Jeremiah and Belly agree not to drink much during their parties and to meet up at the beach lifeguard tower after the night has wound down.
The Cousins Crew Hits the Town in ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Season 3 Episode 7

The festivities officially begin! Taylor, Anika and Belly split up from Jere and the boys for what is to be a fun-filled evening. At the first bar, the trio of girls take some shots and a weed gummy. This includes Belly, who’s decided that her bachelorette party night is the perfect moment to take her first-ever edible. This action will have consequences, Belly!
As Belly tries to figure out who convinced her mom, Laurel (Jackie Chung), to come to the wedding, she realizes it must’ve been Conrad. It leads to a highly anticipated flashback sequence for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 7. A young Conrad reluctantly allows Belly to split up with the group, leading to her disappearing to look at unicorns for hours. Conrad yells at her, but immediately starts feeling bad, and proclaims that from now on, the two of them will stick together.
Back in the present, Belly realizes that Conrad continues to look out for her after all this time. While it was obvious to the viewers, this moment is world-shattering for Belly. This leads her to confront Conrad directly to see if it’s true, and he admits his culpability. If it’s important to Belly, it’s important to him too.
Belly and Jeremiah’s Truths Finally Come to Light

At the next bar, Belly’s weed gummy takes over as she’s on the dance floor. As she dances, she begins creating in her mind what can only be described as an in-universe Bonrad edit created by Belly herself. The music takes over, and memories of Conrad quickly flash through her mind, making for one of the best moments in the entire series. Unfortunately, this leads Belly to have a full-blown panic attack in the bathroom with Taylor, realizing she’s marrying the wrong brother.
All of Belly’s fears and doubts about the wedding and her feelings for the Fisher brothers come full circle in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 7. Taylor tries to reassure her that this wedding will be everything she has ever pictured, but Belly responds with a game-changing statement. “I never pictured any of it, I-I only ever pictured Conrad,” she says through shaky breaths and tears. It’s finally out. Belly has been in love with Conrad, and always will be.
Meanwhile, Jeremiah’s bachelor party isn’t going any better. Conrad overhears Jeremiah’s friends gossiping and learns about his brother’s affair. He finally learns the truth. Unable to put his feelings for Belly aside, Conrad explodes with rage, unable to contain his anger toward Jeremiah.
‘TSITP’ Season 3 Episode 7 Features the Love Confession Heard ’Round the World

The boys drunkenly stumble into the house, with Jeremiah too wasted to make his way to the beach. Belly still goes, only to discover that Jere is a no-show. Instead, she finds Conrad, sitting alone in a lifeguard tower. Belly joins Conrad and tries to ease the tension, but Conrad is having none of it. He tells Belly of Jere’s infidelity, but to his disappointment, she reveals that she already knows.
Just as Belly is going to walk away, Conrad goes into a long monologue, finally confessing to Belly that he’s always been in love with her. He tried to let her go because Jere was able to give her what he couldn’t, but learning about Cabo made Conrad realize that Jere was not the person he thought he was, and that she deserves better.
Belly’s response to this is heartbreaking to say the least, claiming that she and Conrad were “never anything” before storming off. She falls to her knees sobbing, knowing every hurtful thing she just said to Conrad was not only a lie to him, but a lie to herself. Belly cries herself to sleep, as the episode ends on a Taylor Swift needle drop.
“Last Hurrah” Is the Best Episode of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Season 3 So Far

There’s a moment of drama at every corner, and even in the quieter moments, every actor takes their time to fill the air with tension and emotion in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 7. Chris Briney should seriously consider a Robert Pattinson-style career pivot to more dramatic roles once the show ends, as his work this season continues to impress. Briney’s performance will go down in teen drama history, as he’s able to deliver even the corniest lines with pure grace.
Belly’s in-universe Bonrad edit is the type of teen drama wackiness that is only otherwise found on a 2000s CW show, in the most complimentary way possible. It not only encapsulates the entire theme of the series in about a minute and a half, but it also provides viewers with a glimpse inside Belly’s mind. Belly’s fall to her knees post-love confession is Lola Tung’s new best acting moment of the series, as she continues to give stronger performances with each passing episode.
Best Moment: Most would say the love confession, but there’s something about that canon Bonrad edit made by Belly herself that is just too good.
Worst Moment: Seeing the look on Conrad’s face after Belly told him they were never anything.
Best Needle Drop: “we can’t be friends (wait for your love)” by Ariana Grande.
Episode MVP: The edible Belly took.
Quote of the episode: “I didn’t picture any of it, I only ever pictured Conrad.”
