The big blue boy scout and friends face their toughest challenge yet as the second season continues to heat up.
While Clark Kent (Jack Quaid) struggles to escape the grasp of Brainiac (Michael Emerson), he must rely on his friends to save the day. Although the odds aren’t in their favor, Jimmy Olsen (Ishmel Sahid), Lois Lane (Alice Lee) and Superman’s cousin Kara (Kiana Madeira) are poised to rescue Clark from their newest threat. Check out all the details in our My Adventures With Superman Season 2, Episode 8, “The Death of Clark Kent,” recap below!
Kara Finally Sees the Light in ‘My Adventures With Superman’ Season 2 Episode 8
Although Kara has been painted mostly as an antagonist so far, her revelation that Brainiac has been lying to her last episode has tipped the scales. Now reunited with Lois and Jimmy, she fills them in on her epiphany and teams up with the duo to save Clark. Jimmy and Kara continue to have intense chemistry, and the Kryptonian even admits she has feelings for Jimmy right to his face. Her true personality is finally beginning to shine through.
Unfortunately, Kara’s mind is severely shattered from Brainiac’s control as she still believes he is her father and must be malfunctioning. Even though she now sides with Jimmy and Lois, she still doesn’t understand the full extent of the villain’s plans. While there is a difficult task ahead, the squad assembling to fight together provides hope for a brighter future in My Adventures With Superman Season 2, Episode 8.
Brainiac Proves To Be a Menacing Villain and Worthy Opponent for Superman
However, despite the comfort of Kara and co. coming to Clark’s rescue, he still resides trapped under Brainiac’s control. Although he has made it clear he intends to restore the Kryptonian Empire, the full scope of his plans remain a mystery. That is, until he reveals to a paralyzed Superman that his goal is to take over Clark’s body and use it as for his own.
While Superman is near unbeatable in hand-to-hand combat, Brainiac has the upper hand while they battle within Clark’s mind. Since Clark’s upbringing took place entirely on Earth, Brainiac shuffles through his memories to better understand the hero in My Adventures With Superman Season 2, Episode 8. To fully control the host body, Brainiac must first break Clark’s spirit. He focuses only on Clark’s darkest and most lonely memories, intent on leaving him fully devoid of hope.
Clark Struggles With His Self Worth in ‘My Adventures With Superman’ Season 2 Episode 8
Fresh off his breakup with Lois, Clark isn’t in the best mindset for a mental struggle with Brainiac. He is forced to relive all the moments of his life where he felt unwanted, unloved, and different. While the Man of Steel is almost invulnerable, his biggest weakness is his desire to fit in. Even Superman struggles with his mental health and self worth.
Although Brainiac is manipulating Clark’s memories to make them appear far worse than they are, Superman begins to lose steam as time progresses throughout My Adventures With Superman Season 2, Episode 8. However, he continues to fight inside his mind as Kara battles Brainiac on the outside.
Unfortunately, just as Kara defeats Brainiac’s host body and it appears Clark has escaped the villain’s control, it’s revealed Brainiac has fully inhabited Clark’s body. The “Machine Who Would Be Empire” has gained full autonomy over Superman; at least for now, Clark Kent is no more.
Brainiac Reigns Victorious in “The Death of Clark Kent”
My Adventures With Superman Season 2, Episode 8 continues the trend of building up the antagonist to devastating levels of power. It’s difficult to match up with Superman’s strength from a storytelling perspective, but the series continues to knock that aspect out of the park. Brainiac is the most fearsome foe yet, and it’ll be up to Kara, Jimmy, and Lois to find a way to save the day.
Although Kara seems like the best bet to rescue Clark from a strength perspective, the episode finishes with Lois diving into Brainiac’s leftover memory device to find Clark and free him from the clutches of their foe. This will be their toughest challenge yet, and if the first eight episodes of My Adventures With Superman have been any indication, it’ll be an incredibly exciting journey for viewers as well. With only two episodes remaining, an epic conclusion awaits.
