My Adventures With Superman Season 3 is back as the wholesome, anime-inspired series returns on Adult Swim. While this story started as a small-scale narrative following the adventures of Clark Kent/Superman (Jack Quaid), Jimmy Olsen (Ishmel Sahid), and Lois Lane (Alice Lee) mainly at the Daily Planet, the newest installment kicks things up a notch as the heroes venture into alternate universes and futures, with new allies, cyborgs, and so much more.
There are more heroes, more villains, and even an existential crisis among the central characters. The real question is, did My Adventures With Superman Season 3 bite off more than it can chew? Or does the charm of the first two seasons continue to flourish?
What is ‘My Adventures With Superman’ Season 3 About?

With Kara a.k.a. Supergirl (Kiana Madeira) fully integrated into the friend group, Earth has gained a hero. Not only that, but Jimmy has gained a potential love interest. This addition has raised Lex Luthor’s (Max Mittelman) suspicion of the alien race’s true plans for the planet, moving him from a secondary villain to the main antagonist of the series. The slow burn they’ve done with Lex has been great, and they set him up as an even bigger threat for seasons to come.
My Adventures With Superman Season 3 really brings out the super with new additions from Superboy (Darren Criss), Bizarro, and Cyborg Superman (also voiced by Max Mittelman). Yeah, that’s a whole lotta super, man. Not to mention, as Clark has finally come to terms with his Kryptonian heritage, he is ready to settle down with Lois. Let’s just say Lois doesn’t exactly feel the same.
Too Much Super, Too Little Time

As stated up top, there are now so many characters involved in this series, without even mentioning the episodic, smaller mini-boss fight villains featured in episodes, in addition to everyone else. This abundance of characters often results in a head-on collision with the main plotlines of this season, feeling like a massive detriment to that narrative for the sake of squeezing in all these cool characters from the Superman mythos.
The central thread of My Adventures With Superman Season 3 is that characters are really struggling with the weight of what the future holds. Each individual in the series is at a pivotal point in their lives, ready to move on to the next step in adulthood. The core four have their own specific struggles: Jimmy has trouble believing he deserves a relationship with Kara, Kara is struggling to adapt to life on Earth, Lois doesn’t feel she’s ready to start a family even though she obviously loves Clark, and Clark isn’t sure his “normal self” will ever live up to his Superman side.
All of these struggles are so relatable and are the best part of this season. Yes, don’t worry, there’s plenty of awesome action, and the series continues to be one of the most adorable pieces of media out there. However, it makes me wonder why they stuffed so many characters into one season rather than save them for potential future ones. Strong messages in this season could have been even stronger with a more streamlined villain plan. Instead, the end product feels a bit rushed as it tries to feature every character, new and old.
The Future is a Central Theme of ‘My Adventures With Superman’ Season 3

Destiny is a funny thing to think about. Some people think their fates are a predetermined path, with no choice, big or small, able to shake what’s set in stone. But My Adventures With Superman Season 3 explores the infinite possibilities of the future. Every choice matters. These decisions define what kind of person, or hero, these characters are. Mistakes can be made; it’s how you make up for them and learn from them that matters.
Isn’t that the quintessential theme of Superman? Putting your best foot forward to be the best version of yourself in the face of the greatest adversities, even the ones that are your fault? Seeing the best in humanity even when they’re at their worst? The team behind My Adventures of Superman understands this character at a cellular level, and it shows throughout the series’ three seasons. I just wish this season, in particular, had doubled down on what makes it great and left a few new characters waiting in the wings for further down the line.
Until James Gunn‘s Superman came out in 2025, My Adventures With Superman was the quintessential introduction to the Man of Steel for anyone looking to get into the character. The movie is now a much more approachable way to explore Metropolis, but it cannot be overstated how much this animated series does for the character. Nevertheless, if fans are looking to dive deeper into the lore of the Super Family, this series remains a go-to for a crash course in the history of Superman and a must-watch for fans of superhero animation.
