The plot revolves around Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Ms. Marvel, whose abilities become intertwined after Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton) interferes with their powers to obtain natural resources for the Kree planet, Hala. When the trio discovers that Kamala’s bangle matches with Dar-Benn’s, they team up to retrieve them and seal the breaches in the space-time continuum. They face off against Dar-Benn who, despite Carol’s offer to ignite Hala’s sun, uses the bangles to initiate a jump point to another sun resulting in her demise, while unintentionally opening a hole to an entirely different reality.

Monica cleverly decides that with the combined energy from Carol and Kamala, she can close the tear, but she’ll have to do so from the other side. Before the void closes, Carol realizes that Monica will be trapped on the other side, and rushes to save her. Monica then successfully closes the portal by making the sacrifice play to stay trapped in the alternate reality.

Before returning to Earth, Captain Marvel fulfills her promise to rebuild Hala by reigniting their sun after it was revealed that she was responsible for destroying the planet’s natural resources. Now back on Earth, Carol moves into the Rambeau family home in Louisiana, with the help of the Khans, as she holds the fort until Monica comes back.

Inspired by her team-up adventure, Kamala channels Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) from the Iron Man post-credit scene by hiding in the shadows of a hero’s home. The hero in question? A fellow young woman who also idolizes the Avengers: Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld). Kamala asks her if she’s willing to join a team of young heroes, Young Avengers if you will, with another member potentially being Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton). The credits roll before we hear Kate’s answer, but her smile at Kamala is enough.

With the next projects for Phases 5 and 6 of the MCU previously announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, there is no clear idea where the Young Avengers could be formed. Season 2 for Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel are not confirmed at this time, so fans will have to wait for a follow-up on this new team. With Carol back on Earth, she is that much closer to the Avengers by the time Avengers: Kang Dynasty kicks off. As for Monica, the post-credit teases an exciting future in store for her.
