The fourth season has been clicking on all cylinders every single week, and now the stage is set for an epic conclusion. Check out all the details in our Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 9, “Escape From Planet Klongo” recap below!
Ron Howard Makes a Surprise Appearance in “Escape From Planet Klongo”

With the residents of the West Tower of the Arconia ruled out as suspects in Sazz’s death, only two people remain who can help advance their investigation. Unfortunately, neither of them are easily accessible. Glen Stubbins (Paul Rudd) is their new primary suspect since he had been working with Sazz before her death, but he’s still in a coma. The other is legendary director Ron Howard, who directed the film.
Despite Oliver’s pleas to the group that he’s actually close friends with Ron Howard, they’re forced to sneak onto the set of his newest film as background actors in Only Murders in the Building Season 4, Episode 9. However, once they arrive, Mabel is called away to the hospital as Glen Stubbins wakes up from his coma. Unfortunately, he is killed before she gets there by the mysterious former protégé of Sazz Pataki.
Charles and Oliver Struggle With Their Friendship in ‘OMITB’ Season 4

Although the mystery heats up in Only Murders in the Building Season 4, Season 7, there’s a significant focus on character development as well. Charles is reeling from the idea of losing his best friend as Oliver is primed to marry the love of his life, Loretta (Meryl Streep). While Charles suggests the two of them get a drink together, Oliver makes a big show of the idea and begins complaining that Charles isn’t throwing him a larger bachelor party.
Their argument in the middle of the film set gets them kicked out, and the two decide to make up over a bowl of soup and Oliver’s favorite Chinese restaurant. To Charles’ surprise, Ron Howard walks in and embraces Oliver, confirming they indeed are old friends. He sits down with Oliver and Charles, and after a short period of catching up, he reveals to them the identity of Sazz’s true protégé and the man behind her murder.
‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 4 Episode 9 Review: The True Killer Is Revealed

Meanwhile, Mabel returns home, where she is greeted by the writer of the film about their life, Marshall P. Pope (Jin Ha), hoping for her help on his script. However, to everyone’s surprise, he is revealed to be the stuntman who worked under Sazz Pataki. The murderer has been among them all along, and now he’s alone with Mabel in her apartment in Only Murders in the Building Season 4, Episode 9.
With only the finale remaining, OMITB Season 4 is shaping up to be the best season of the series. The killer may have seemingly been revealed, but there’s still plenty of intrigue setting up for an action-packed conclusion.
