The ongoing Star Wars Celebration in London is sending fans into a galactic frenzy of excitement. Lucasfilm has confirmed that three new Star Wars films are currently in development.
One of these films will be directed by the highly talented writer, producer, and director, Dave Filoni. Many know him for his exceptional work on Star Wars animated shows such as The Clone Wars, Star Wars: Rebels, and Star Wars: Resistance.
Dave Filoni Star Wars movie announced
Filoni has already made significant contributions to the live-action Star Wars universe as well, through his collaborations with John Favreau. Filoni is the executive producer, director, and writer on The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and the upcoming Disney+ series, Ahsoka. You can also catch his footprint on the animated series Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Tales of the Jedi and the upcoming Star Wars series, Skeleton Crew.
As if he doesn’t have enough on his plate, the Dave Filoni Star Wars movie will focus on the “escalating war between the Imperial remnant and the New Republic.” The film will reportedly serve as a bridge between storylines explored in the aforementioned Disney+ series, including The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka.
What’s more exciting is that the film is said to explore the rich lore of the Mandalorian universe and will be a cinematic event that wraps up those beloved stories.
Dave Filoni Star Wars movie a long time coming
With Filoni’s proven track record as the protégé of George Lucas, it’s safe to say his Star Wars movie is in very capable hands.
While it’s certainly bittersweet to say goodbye to this chapter of the Star Wars saga, Lucasfilm has promised fans plenty of content in which to indulge. As of now, there’s no release date set for the Dave Filoni Star Wars movie.
