Mia Goth Joins The Cast of Marvel Studios’ Blade

Horror star Mia Goth is reportedly set to bring her talents to the MCU!

A new report from Deadline claims that Infinity Pool, Pearl, and X star Mia Goth is set to make her MCU debut alongside Mahershala Ali in Marvel Studios’ Blade! Goth joins Da 5 Bloods‘ Delroy Lindo and The Underground Railroad‘s Aaron Pierre as the only confirmed cast members aside from Ali.

Mia Goth’s horror history bodes well for Blade appearance

Goth has a rich history in the horror/thriller genre, starring in the aforementioned hits in addition to the likes of The High Life, Marrow Bone, and Suspiria. She is a bona fide star with loads of experience that is sure to serve her well if the tone of Marvel Studios’ Blade matches up with the original trilogy starring Wesley Snipes.

Details about her character are being kept under wraps at this time, but some fans are speculating that she could be playing the magical demon Lillith, who has a history with the Daywalker in the comics. Goth is sure to shine in whichever role she lands.

Blade has experienced its fair share of problems

Although anticipation is still sky-high amongst the fan base, it has not been smooth sailing for Marvel Studios’ Blade movie thus far. The film was originally set to begin production in September 2021 and wrap in December 2021 to hit a summer 2022 release date. Bassam Tariq was set to direct.

After countless delays and a complete overhaul of the script from Michael Starburry, Tariq stepped down from the director’s chair, but is still expected to stay on board as a producer. Blade now has a new director in Lovecraft Country‘s Yann Demange. While details about the film are being kept under wraps, it is reportedly shifting to a “darker tone, more in line with the early 2000s Blade movies.”

Mia Goth and Mahershala Ali can bring a new tone to the MCU

Although Blade has yet to begin filming, there has been no indication of a delay from its September 2024 release date. When studios secure stars the caliber of Mahershala Ali and Mia Goth, they have to do what it takes to build a good movie around them. All the delays and trouble so far indicate Marvel is committed to doing just that.
