Saints Row is an open world action-adventure video game developed by Deep Silver Volition and published by Austrian video game publisher, Deep Silver. Following Saints Row IV (2013), it was decided that the title should be rebooted. The game is set in Santo Ileso, a fictional city based on Las Vegas. The main story and single-player mode follows four friends who create an outlaw gang called The Saints. Their mission is to seize control and power from other gang’s by expanding their own criminal organization, so they can run the city.

The game is third-person and players can fight enemies using various types of weapons, as well as summoning non-playable gang members as back up. Call up your best mate, as there is also an online multiplayer mode which allows two players to play the single-player story together while making their way through their own campaign. With a Metacritic score of 61, the game’s release was met with mixed reviews. Technical issues and dated writing were noted as the biggest complaints.

N.B. Parents, be mindful that there is an age-restriction on this game. So it might be wise to keep this one from the kids.

The first of the PlayStation Plus September 2023 free games, Saints Row will be released on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
