Baymax: Interview with Scott Adsit

Big Hero 6 took the world by storm, winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Film in 2015. One of the top animated films of the last decade, it was only a matter of time before a spin-off made its way to Disney+. The loveable, inflatable Baymax, voiced by Scott Adsit, returns on June 29th to stream on Disney+.

Adsit is widely known for voicing Baymax and starring as Pete from 30 Rock. The sitcom was an immediate sensation, as Adsit joined Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin and Tracy Morgan among an incredible cast. He has also appeared in shows like The Office as well as Friends, cementing his status as a staple in comedy.

It’s been a treat to see Scott return to his role from Big Hero 6 in these new animated shorts. Each episode manages to stick to the theme of unwanted help, with the story being neatly tied in a bow by the conclusion. Although Baymax is always alerted to a physical ailment, his medical aid expands just like his body. The elements of mental health and self-growth enhanced by classic comedic bits make Baymax a great series for all ages.

Agents of Fandom – Interview with Baymax

I spoke with Scott about the upcoming series, as well as connected Easter Eggs from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Shortly after the film premiered, Avengers: Age of Ultron hit theaters. Eagle-eyed fans were able to spot a “Tadashi” AI-Chip among Tony Stark’s gadgets. This chip of course is incredibly similar to the one inside Baymax. As Big Hero 6 is based on a Marvel comic, it was a delight to see traces in the MCU.

We also discussed his time on the hit sitcom 30 Rock. In the interview, we pitched different ideas for sketches. Scott also outlined how Baymax’s medical aid could come in handy for cast members of The Girly Show. From hangover cures to an arm wrestle with Jack Donaghy, Adsit’s sketch ideas in our interview present a plethora of collaboration gold.

From Ms. Marvel to Baymax, the Agents of Fandom have you covered for all of your entertainment coverage.
