It’s no secret that The Little Mermaid‘s Jacob Tremblay is a massive Star Wars fan. Almost six years ago, he had the opportunity to meet the legendary Mark Hamill, famed for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker throughout the original and sequel trilogies, at The Book of Henry Los Angeles premiere in 2017.
Talented fans of franchises earning roles within those franchises isn’t unheard of, just look at Iman Vellani, who was and continues to be an MCU addict despite now occupying the beloved role of Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. As the Star Wars superfan begins his ascent to stardom, voicing Flounder in the latest live action Disney remake The Little Mermaid, it begs the question: Is it time for Jacob Tremblay to join a Galaxy Far, Far Away?
Jacob Tremblay as a Jedi in ‘Star Wars’?
While speaking with Agents of Fandom at the Toronto premiere of The Little Mermaid, Tremblay expressed his desire to join the Star Wars universe as a Jedi! When asked if he had any desire in branching out to other projects under the Disney umbrella like Star Wars or the MCU, and who he would play, Tremblay had this to say:
“Oh yeah, all of those sound great, I’m a big fan of Star Wars, would love to be in Star Wars if they can fit me in there somewhere. I’d love to do that. I’d love to be a Jedi.”

It’s safe to say Tremblay’s interest in the Star Wars universe is peaking at the right time. A whole slew of projects were announced recently at Star Wars Celebration in London, many of which are going to be looking for new force users. The most obvious choice is Rey Skywalker’s new movie, set 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, which will see Daisy Ridley reprise her role to train the next generation of Jedi following the fall of the First Order (Jacob Tremblay as broom boy anyone?)
The future is bright for Jacob Tremblay
Whether it’s alongside Rey Skywalker, learning the ways of the Force from the Prime Jedi, or in any number of upcoming projects that are sure to feature Force users, there’s a spot in Star Wars for Jacob Tremblay. He’s already receiving praise in early reviews for his performance in The Little Mermaid, so his phone will likely ring off the hook over the coming months.
Will Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy be one of the names reaching out? Tremblay will undoubtedly answer if she is, but only time will tell.
