Loki Season 2 Release Date: Everything You Need to Know Before the God of Mischief’s Next Escapade

The God of Mischief returns to Disney+ in just a few short months.

The time has come! In other words, the Loki Season 2 release date has finally been confirmed!

It’s been five years since Thanos’ infamous promise to Loki that “no resurrections this time” would save him, and two years since our resident God of Mischief appeared back on our screens in the hit Disney+ series Loki. Now, Marvel Studios have announced in Disney’s Upfront presentation on Tuesday, that Loki Season 2 will have an episodic release on Disney+ starting October 6, after months of silence regarding the series.

Here’s what we can expect from the next part of the trickster’s journey:

Whilst the official trailer for Loki Season 2 hasn’t been released just yet, we can assume that the season will resolve the chaos following season one, episode six: “For All Time. Always.” Loki (Tom Hiddleston) finds himself in the midst of a fresh multiversal war at the hands of his counterpart, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), and abandoned in an all-too-familiar place. He’s back at the Time Variance Authority with the threat of a much more dangerous variant of He Who Remains looming, also known as Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors).

For the first time in Loki’s life, he finds himself stranded in the presence of people who don’t recognize him and with no recollection of the season’s past events, it’s down to Loki to warn Agent Mobius and Hunter B-15 that a much more grave threat is on its way. Owen Wilson concluded during his guest appearance at the D23 event in September 2022 that season two will answer the question of how Loki got into this situation, summing it up perfectly with a misquoted Talking Head lyric – “this is not my beautiful life… how did I get here?”

Loki Season 2 release date teases new and familiar faces

The preview at D23 back in September confirms the return of our main beloved characters as well as some new, special treats. As we can expect, Tom Hiddleston reprises his role as our mischievous scamp, Loki, beside fan favorites, Mobius (Owen Wilson) and Sylvie Laufeydottir (Sophia Di Martino).

Although, the most exciting part of the event is the announcement of Ke Huy Quan joining the cast. After Quan’s knock-out performance in Academy Award-sweep Everything Everywhere All at Once, this is extremely exciting news. He took to the stage with a reference to his earlier days in Indiana Jones, teasing: “is this not the Indiana Jones panel?” Quan will play a member of the TVA.

There have been several rumours amongst the cast list for Loki including the one with Henry Cavill as Marcus Milton/Hyperion, but these can be taken with a pinch of salt. However, with Eric Martin taking over as head writer for season two, there are endless possibilities as to who may be in this next season. Some fans have already made the connection between the other multiversal hiccups, including Dr Strange and the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man: No Way Home, questioning if these characters will be part of the bigger picture and if we may see a team-up between these fan favorites.

Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead will direct and executive produce Season 2, alongside Tom Hiddleston and Michael Waldron.

When can we expect a trailer after the Loki season 2 release date announcement?

We can expect the first official trailer to drop soon now that we have a confirmed Loki season 2 release date, and this season to ensue high-impact threats and a lot to live up to as the only renewed series for Disney+ so far.

The first season of Loki is available now on Disney+. Let me know what your thoughts are on Loki season two over on Twitter! And be sure to turn notifications on for Agents of Fandom on socials to keep updated.
